TWord Is has finally established why Jamaican dancehall artiste Mavado postponed his Kenya concert. According to reliable sources, Mavado was not only denied a visa to the UK where he was supposed to pass through before coming to Kenya but also because his lead guitarist Ricardo Johnson lost his mother.
The sources in Jamaica said that the artiste was hoping to appeal to get the visa by the January 28, 2012.' He canceled his European and Africa tour because he didn't get a UK visa,' the source said. The 30-year-old star was due to perform in Dunstable, Birmingham, London and Manchester, but concert dates have now been postponed until April 2012. He was also scheduled to perform in Zimbabwe and until Wednesday evening the promoters were not aware of this as the entertainment sites in the country still updated about his show today.
On the other hand fans on twitter could not help but display their disappointment by mocking both Mavado and fellow Jamaican artiste Chris Martin who had replaced him for the show. Chris Martin had performing Kenya earlier this year alongside Cecile and D-Major.'Mavado has disappointed many, I pray we won't be hearing of some Kenyan who kills themselves because of this,' read one of the tweets.
Another one felt that there are many other routes apart from the UK route to Kenya from Jamaica. The fan tweeted:'Boss I don't think the UK is the only place you can transit through when coming to Kenya! Mavado is just unprofessional.' Some of the tweets also showed that despite having hosted Chris Martin before some of the Kenyans did not know who he was.'Oh wait *whispers* just been told that's not Cold Play's Chris Martin. Ok--- wait, who is that, then? Are there are there two Chris Martin's?' another tweet read.
